An Island Original
The concept of our original surf shop that started in 1985 was revived with the re-opening of Strictly Hardcore Surf & Shape in 2008 at the original location on the corner of 37th Street and Avenue R in Galveston, Texas. Shop owner James Fulbright has been shaping boards at the location for nearly three decades. The shop’s re-opening is the first opportunity for visitors to see both the shaping take place firsthand; and, also browse a select inventory of hard and soft goods – including board bags, apparel and surfboards – and soak in the ambiance of a bygone era when the surf shop was located a bit off-the-beaten path and served as a gathering place for surfers of all abilities.
